Cool Under Pressure: The Boiler
Happy belated New Year from The Starry Expanse Project!
It’s been a while since our last update, but don’t let that fool you into thinking we’ve just been sitting idle. Over the holiday break we took the opportunity of the downtime to critically review our pipeline, and get all our ducks in a row to be as productive as possible in the new year. We’ve restructured our team to be more autonomous and efficient, and we’ve been hard at work on camera matching.
We can’t wait to share more of our plans for 2018, but until then here is some work in progress from our artists Leonard Schölch and Nick Mower (hey, that’s me!). It’s Boiler Island’s namesake – The Boiler!
2018 is going to be a huge year for us, in more ways than one. We’ve got plenty of surprises in store. Stay tuned!
Welcome to our newest team member, Stuart Attenborrow – a multi talented software developer.

Wow, long time I didn’t get by there… I am still impressed by the quality of your work and I’m more and more looking forward to revisit these beautiful places that made me dream (and often pull my hair too …)
Way to go, talented peoples, way to go!

Looks fantastic and very fluid!
Please update a little bit more regular if possible, I was starting to think something happened to you guys…
Also, can the spherical images be moved from the homepage? It causes the page to crash on my iPad, making it very hard to read the awesome stuff you post or even going to the individual page to see the comments.

Great update, thank you all.
Superbly detailed, even without textures. This is truly an amazing job being done very very wel. Great news about the new camera matching technique! Saves you a great deal of valuable time.
I am very anxious to see a bit of the start of the game. The Fisher, the cliff, the dagger, the stairway up…..

I know you guys mentioned it in a previous article, but I appreciate how it appears that you have recreated the stuttery animations from Riven. I think that will go a long way towards immersing players in the world more than the unnaturally smooth animations from the realMyst remakes. Keep up the great work guys!
